I was wondering what the status of owning a gun is like in Costa Rica. On my first trip there, to Alajuela in particular, I was struck by the gates and apparent security in the area. Even people's cars were INSIDE the tall gates. I saw lots of barbed and razor wire. Being from a neighborhood in America where we don't even lock our doors, this was beyond me.
Are you allowed to carry a concealed weapon? Would you have any big legal problems if you shoot or otherwise kill a burgler in your house and ask questions later?
