Is it true that if a Costa Rican woman has a baby with an American man, and he is currently receiving Social Security, that the SSA sends the woman a child support check every month? If so, how much do they send?
If you read the SSA website (www.ssa.gov) you would learn that if the parent receive Social Security Payments so does his kids (under 18 or older depending).
I believe it said $1.6 billion or so is sent to kids every month.
So if you get social security and have a baby in Costa Rica the baby would then quality to receive social security (around $500/month) which would be more than the mother is likely to make working.
It seems to be limited to 150% or 180% of the parents total per family. But could be really good monthly income for a Costa Rican.
