Is it more dangerous to have your skin exposed to the sun in Costa Rica

By Lannie at 10/03/07 13:29
Skin cancer seems to be way more prevalent now than it used to be I guess due to the erosion of the ozone layer.

I am wondering if you would have to have more protection from the sun in Costa Rica than in the States.

Absolutely !

I spent years in Miami and the sun here is far more intense !

A good hat, UV resistant shades and some sunblock is a must for the open areas.

Mosquito repellant too for the Caribbean ,Osa or Nicoya.

Keep a can in your vehicle.

I've never been swarmed by skeeter here like in the states but Dengue is something you dont want to catch.

I wear long sleeve fishing shirts from Columbia sportswear.Light colors only.

Very good tropical, fast drying, clothing.
