We are well aware that the tropics is very rich in biodiversity. In fact, Costa Rica that has .03 of the world's land mass has 4-5% of the world's total observed species.
The reason for this has baffled scientists for centuries. They would always try to explain this phenomenon but to no avail. At last, a team from the University of California at Berkeley and San Diego now has answers for this phenomenon.
