What inspired you to launch your own website?
I launched the real estate site when I realized there were many affordable homes not being advertised.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 1994, I launched a genealogy web site for the LITTLE surname.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted the name to accurately reflect what the site was about.

Affordable Homes offers homes for sale under $100,000 in Costa Rica, including residential, commercial, investment, and beach properties. Properties are still affordable in this Central American paradise. Retirement in Costa Rica remains a viable option for many baby boomers."
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Affordable Homes is different in that most other web sites offer mainly homes in the higher prices.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal with the Affordable Homes site is to continue to use it as a marketing and educational tool.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Excellent as the response has been very good.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
With an unlimited budget, I would have a professional web designer revamp the design, using the same content and I would be able to advertise more.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, for I now have associates and we plan to be "as big as we can".
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Mainly, just the design of the site.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The research required to keep the latest content fresh and accurate.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Search Engines as well as an e-mail signature.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
My expectations and the operation of the site pretty much coincide.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site is relatively new, about 3 months old and I will continue it as long as am physically able to do so and will hand off to someone else.
