November is usually one of the rainiest months in Costa Rica. During this time of the year, tourist arrivals to beach resorts are at a low so the fees are generally below the normal as well. There are fewer tourists during this off-peak season, which translates to less noise and more enjoyment.
But would you really want to be in a Costa Rican beach during November? Rain showers are frequent while the sun can be seen not all the time. In November, it is best to just go indoors and probably enjoy the movies.
Don’t worry. There are a lot of movie opportunities during this time of the year. Apart from the Costa Rica International Film Festival (CRIFF) currently taking place in Manuel Antonio until November 8, the town of Montezuma in the Nicoya Peninsula will also be staging the third edition of the Montezuma International Film Festival on November 12-15, 2009.
Take part as a number of enthusiasts and artists converge in one of the country’s top events for independent films of every genre. In the day, you can still take you usual Costa Rican adventure if you really want to (assuming there’s no rain). In the evening, however, is a different kind of adventure, with a number of great independent movies playing in selected locations—all within walking distance.
The films will be screened at Sano Banano, Organico, Luz de Mono, Los Mangos, and several other venues mentioned in the film schedule. It is advised that you proceed to the venues ahead of the schedule to ensure that you will be able to have a good view. Attendees will be allowed to have their dinner while watching anyway.
It will be a day of film, music, and fun-filled parties so it’s definitely one event that you should not miss here in Costa Rica.
