Business and Investment Tips

10/30/09 06:06

It is not always enough to rely on your retirement money and pray that it will be good enough to last you until your death. These days, when uncertainty is at high levels, you have to make sure that your future is well taken care of and that you have ample source of income to continue living the standard of life that you desire.

You can still work, probably as an English tutor, but this might not be the best option for you. I suggest that you still have a lot of retirement money in your hands, you invest it in safe and suitable locations to help you finance your retirement.

Fortunately, there are a lot of those investment opportunities here in Costa Rica. The country maintains a good weather conducive to business and investment, while the tech sector continues to bring in the continent's best educated workers. It's no wonder why companies like Acer, Microsoft, and Intel Corporations decided to make sizable investments here. Add to this the stable political and economic climate and you will see a nation for investment.

You can do that as well. One of the best routes that you can take is the real estate route. Foreign citizens and corporations alike can own properties in this country. Only a few limits apply, the most important of which includes physical occupancy and a 50-meter limit from the shore for beachfront properties. Just remember to get a good real estate agent that you can trust so that he/she may be able to help you well with the necessary steps to acquire your own property.

There are a number of agencies than you can run to for assistance. There's the CINDE, the Costa Rica Investment and Development Board, a government-commissioned organization tasked to be the main promoter and assistant of foreign assistants. It has an office in New York as well as in Costa Rica. Meanwhile, the Foreign Trade Promotion Institute (PROCOMER) was created to assist exporters regarding legislation and other things they have to understand regarding the industry. Then there's the Costa Rican Exporters Chamber (CADEXCO), which was created to help entrepreneurs in and around the country's various business laws and policies.
