Costa Rica will be witness to the skills of the world's greatest surfers as it plays host to the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games 2009, which will be held in Playa Hermosa this August 1-8, 2009. This will be the 8th ever World Surfing Games and the largest ever surfing competition to hit Central America.
The 2008 World Surfing Games saw as many as 200 competitors from 28 countries. It was held in Costa de Caparica, Portugal.
